Herons Japanese Gardens
Landscaping division of Herons Bonsai Ltd. The Nursery near Lingfield has a beautiful example
Hillier Gardens
Near Romsey, Hants. Not strictly a Japanese garden but has been included by English Heritage on the Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England for the value of the plant collections and has the largest Winter Garden of its kind in Europe.
Holland Park
Kensington, London. Also known as Kyoto Garden refurbished in 2001 as part of the Japan Matsuri. A relaxing park just off Kensington High Street.
Jade Pavilions
If you want a lovely tea house or oriental style building in your Japanese garden - this is just the place to go. They have some lovely pavilions and are based in Wells, Somerset.

A comprehensive site with a searchable list of articles on garden creation, details of plants etc. One of the links is to Japanese Garden broadband slideshow (if you have RealPlayer and cable or broadband) – stunning! Very detailed information on a number of gardens some with Japanese influence that open for the NGS.
Real Japanese Garden
In the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Llanarthne, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Created by Masao Fukuhara, Lecturer in Design, Osaka University as an exhibit in the 2001 Chelsea Flower Show when it won a gold. There is some really clever, interesting stone work on the garden paths and walls and an interesting rill winding its way down the main path - great for jumping over! The whole site is well worth a visit.
Royal Botanic Gardens
Kew, London. The Royal Palace and Pagoda are now open to visitors. Wonderful views from top of pagoda!
Royal Horticultural Society (RHS)
Gardens at Wisley Surrey, Rosemoor North Devon, Hyde Hall Essex, Harlow Carr North Yorkshire, details of its main gardens plus a plant finder and database which will also give specialist suppliers in whatever geographical area you require. Wisley now contains a re-designed Japanese Garden and collection of bonsai gifted by Peter and Dawn Chan in a stunning setting.
St Mungo Zen Garden
Museum of Religious Life and Art, Glasgow, Scotland, near the Cathedral.
Tatton Park
Knutsford, Cheshire. One of the finest in the UK. Modernised and restored with assistance of Osaka University of Art.
